Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Firefighter/EMT to join our emergency response team. This role is crucial in providing immediate medical care and firefighting services to the community. Compensation and Benefits
This position will initially follow a Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule, with the intention of transitioning to a traditional 24/48 shift schedule (24 hours on duty, 48 hours off) at a future date.

Compensation and Benefits
- Starting Pay: $42,500 annually, with an increase to $45,000 upon successful completion of the probationary period which is 1 year from the date of hire.
- Pension: Enrollment in the PERF 1977 Pension Fund.
- Insurance: Health, vision, and dental insurance are covered at 100% for the employee.
- Incentives: Training and certification incentives are available.

Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls for fire suppression and medical assistance.
- Perform basic life support procedures as needed.
- Conduct assessments of patients’ conditions, including taking vital signs and administering first aid.
- Operate firefighting equipment and vehicles, ensuring daily readiness for immediate deployment.
- Engage in heavy lifting and physical tasks during rescue operations and patient transport.
- Maintain mechanical knowledge of firefighting apparatus and medical equipment for effective operation.
- Participate in training exercises, drills, and community outreach programs to promote fire safety awareness.
- Collaborate with other emergency services personnel to ensure coordinated responses during incidents.
- Ensure all incident, EMS/NFIRS, reporting is completed in a timely manner
- Must be 18 years of age. Maximum 40 years of age at the date of hire.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR is required.
- Valid Indiana drivers license.
- High school diploma.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Ability to pass PERF 1977 Fund physical and mental examination.
- Valid CPAT test completed within 12 months of hire.
- Certification requirements: Firefighter 1 & 2, Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Technical Rescue Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to firefighting tools and equipment is an asset.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as part of rescue operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
